LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Take numerous local and national celebrities, get them to decorate bras
and then auction them off in a night dedicated to saving lives and you
have the Brassiere Bazaar: Bras for a Cause.
Breast cancer survivor Jennifer Wiseman got the idea for this unique fundraiser after she became a part of the Young Survival Coalition, a premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
In December 2010, at the age of 37, Wiseman was diagnosed with breast cancer and then barely a year later she underwent a double mastectomy. While recovering from surgery, Wiseman went to the Internet to find fundraising ideas for breast cancer research.
And that's when she ran across the idea to auction off decorated bras.
Wiseman has put together an inventory of bras from, to name a few, THV's own Craig O'Neill and Liz Massey, as well as First Lady Ginger Beebe, Bob Robbins from KSSN 96, Heather Brown and Poolboy Alice from Alice 107.7, actress Kathy Najimy and director Judd Apatow.
Bras for a Cause will be held Thursday, October 3rd at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Pub and Grill in North Little Rock.
All funds will go to support the mission of Young Survival Coalition.
