JACKSON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - An off-duty sheriff's deputy in Jackson County was arrested Monday evening.
According to a release from Sheriff David Lucas, he received a call just after 5:30 p.m. about a patrol car being involved in a single-vehicle accident on State Highway 37, north of Grubbs near Ballews Chapel Cemetary.
Around 20 minutes later, the driver of the patrol car, Deputy Steven McCullar, arrived at the home of another sheriff's deputy. When authorities arrived at the home, they found major damage to the vehicle.
Sheriff Lucas said the vehicle ran over a road sign after leaving the roadway on an "S" curve.
Deputy McCullar was placed under arrest, according to the sheriff, and booked on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.
