LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Slowdowns with the federal website for insurance exchanges are preventing some Arkansans from signing up for coverage.
Several people at a signup event Tuesday for Arkansas' insurance exchange said they were unable to apply because of problems connecting with the site. A spokeswoman for the state's insurance department said officials were gathering contact information about people attending Tuesday's events and would have guide organizations contact them later to assist in signing them up.
Several of the attendees at Tuesday's event in Little Rock said they were still excited about the prospect of enrolling for coverage, despite the delays.
Mary Frances Perkins of Carlisle, who is unemployed and says she has Parkinson's disease, says she was frustrated after trouble with a website kept her from enrolling. Mary Eagle of Benton stopped by the Clinton School to pick up information and said she would attempt to sign up on her own later.
Both women said there were currently without health insurance.
