LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor and a conservative group backing his Republican rival are airing new television ads as the air war over Arkansas' Senate race heats up more than a year before the election.

Pryor's campaign announced Tuesday it was airing a new 30-second ad targeting Republican Rep. Tom Cotton, who's challenging Pryor in next year's election. The spot criticizes Cotton for missing two votes last month for a campaign fundraiser and calls him "reckless."

The Club for Growth also announced it's airing a new ad criticizing Pryor over the health care law. Club for Growth has backed Cotton's bid against Pryor.

The new ads were launched the day after Cotton began airing the first spots of his bid to unseat Pryor.
