LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Arkansas State Fair) - Arkansas State Fair officials announced Tuesday that its Military Appreciation Day promotion would be held over through Wednesday due to weather conditions.

Military Appreciation Day, originally scheduled for Tuesday only, offers active and retired military personnel and their immediate family members free admission from 11:00 a.m. until the gates close.

General Manager Ralph Shoptaw said the fair wants to give military personnel every opportunity to take advantage of the offer so the decision was made to extend the promotion an extra day.

"We realize the rain today will make it difficult for some of our military to make it to the fair. So we are going to honor the Military Appreciation Day free gate admission through Wednesday," explained Shoptaw.

Service members will need to show valid military identification to receive free admission.

The Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show is the state's largest event and among the top 50 fairs and festivals in North America.
