LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Jacksonville police say a suspect boarded a school bus with children on it Thursday morning.

April Kiser with Jacksonville Police Dept. says Nicholas John Miller, 22, first tried to get a civilian's car at the 1000 block of N. First Street, but she didn't have a vehicle to give him.

The bus stopped around the same time and Kiser says Miller jumped on, armed with some sort of knife.

Deb Roush with the Pulaski County Special School District says the suspect boarded the bus at a regularly scheduled bus stop.

Kiser says there were 11 elementary school children on the bus along with the driver. No one was injured and everyone on board is safe.

Miller then drove the bus north onto Highway 5 and several law enforcement agencies pursued the bus.

Kiser says when Miller saw the spike strips deployed, he pulled over in the area of Highway 5 and Mountain Springs Road.

Miller is being charged with one count vehicle piracy (C felony), 12 counts kidnapping (Y felony), two counts aggravated assault (D felony).

Kiser says Miller has a history with Jacksonville police, with a record of at least six different reports. Three reports from 2013 were released Thursday afternoon; they state that Miller has previously been arrested for Terroristic Threatening, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Breaking or Entering/Theft of Property.
