WHITE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A house fire claimed the life of a 14-year-old in White County over the weekend.
According to White County Sheriff's Office chief deputy, Phillip E. Miller, the fire started on Oct. 20 around midnight at a home on the 300 block of Graham Road in Providence. Two children, ages 16 and 10, were able to get out of the house, but their 14-year-old brother was still inside.
Miller said the 14-year-old's body was found after the fire was extinguished in a bedroom; the body was taken to Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsy and identification. The Arkansas State Medical Examiners Office has confirmed that the victim was Blake Langwell.
The fire department has not been able to determine the cause of the fire yet due to the extent of damage, but Miller said investigators do know that a space heater was in use when the fire began. Foul play is not suspected.
