LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - More details were released about a fight that happened during a pep rally at a Little Rock high school Friday afternoon.
According to a Little Rock Police Dept. report, three juveniles were arrested for the incident at J.A. Fair High School. The report states that the fight started when an officer asked a teen to take his hat off; the teen refused, then threatened to 'beat' the officer and extended an arm toward the officer. As the officer attempted to restrain the juvenile, another teen reportedly hit him several times, causing him to fall to the ground. While the officer was on the ground, two students were said to kick and hit him multiple times. When the security supervisor attempted to help in the situation, the report states he was also attacked and fell, hitting his head on the bleachers.
Another officer responded and took three students into custody. The first one told police that the officer assaulted him while asking to remove his hat, and he responded in self defense. He was charged with two counts of 2nd degree battery; the other two suspects were charged with one count of 2nd degree battery. The three, each 16 years old, were taken to the juvenile detention center and released to their custodial care.
