BOONE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Schools in Boone County are considering arming their teachers and staff.
Four school districts in Boone County are taking part in a reserve deputy program. The school employees will go through a course, undergo background checks and have psychological evaluations. Then, if they are cleared to become reserve deputies, the school district will decide whether to allow them to bring a gun to class.
Reserve deputies are certified volunteer officers who work under the supervision of sheriff's deputies.
