LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- One of the leading cancer deaths in the country is lung cancer but there are ways to prevent it.
Dr. Thaddeus Bartter from UAMS shared more details on the 4th Annual Lung Cancer Symposium on "THV 11 This Morning".
Here is a description of the conference from UAMS:
"Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. This conference will cover the context within which lung cancer is caused. Where the tobacco culture's political and social dimensions are relevant to the propagation of disease, the goals and methods of the tobacco industry will be discussed. After the breadth of tobacco-related disease has been explored, key principles and state-of-the-art thinking about lung cancer will be explored. The overall goal is to enable physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacist, nurses and other health care professionals to be more effective at all levels of the fight against lung cancer. We hope to help prevent lung cancer and help improve the lives of those who have it."
