LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Saturday night at Union Station, pets arrived in limos as the 21st annual Reigning Cats and Dogs Fundraiser kicked off.
The Pulaski County Humane Society brought their animals to the Las Vegas themed event dressed in special bandanas for their biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds from the live silent auction go to benefit the Humane Society-specifically their emergency rescue and spay and neuter programs.
Reigning cats and dogs chairman Debbie Howell stressed the society's dependence on the fundraiser.
"This event is to obviously fund us. We are not funded by any kind of government or city funding. Everything that the animals get is from donations and fundraisers like this, so we are heavily depending on fundraisers to be successful, and I think tonight is going to be one," she said.
In total, more than 300 items were available for purchase at Union Station and almost 200 items available online.
