PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - People in and around the Little Rock area said they are seeing an increased number of coyotes which threaten their household pets.

"You can come out here about this time of night and you can hear them down the road, big packs of them," said Tim Peator, a Pulaski County homeowner.

Peator said he recently had to shoot two coyotes which were trying to kill his dogs.

"You know the dogs went crazy and when I came and looked out the window ... there  was one trying to get in the pen with my dogs," said Peator.

Peator said he will not let his children play outside after dark.

Homeowners in neighborhoods north of Chenal Parkway in Little Rock said they have seen coyotes roaming their area.

Steve Wilson with Arkansas Game & Fish Commission said it is illegal to shoot coyotes at any time within the City of Little Rock.

However, Wilson said it is legal to shoot them in Pulaski County if they are causing damage or during coyote hunting season, which runs from September 1 to March 31.
