NEWPORT, Ark. (KTHV) - Police said an employee at the Newport Walmart was injured during the store's Black Friday sales events Thursday night.
Newport police said the crowd got out of hand and the employee was injured. She was taken to the hospital.
Police said officers were there working security at the time.
THV11 reached out to the company, and Walmart spokesperson Diana Gee said customers got over-anxious and the employee backed into an end cap and fell. Gee said the employee had no major injuries.
According to Gee, Walmart stores nationwide are having one of the safest Black Friday events they've ever had. She said incidents are significantly down.
Additionally, Gee told THV11 that Walmart nationwide had 22 million shoppers and processed more than 10 million transactions between 6 and 10 p.m.
