PIGGOTT, Ark. (KAIT) - The flu isn't the only sickness causing problems in Arkansas.

Some hospitals are seeing increases in patients with pneumonia, which is a lung infection.

Doctors said those over 65 are more at risk of developing the illness.

They said if you are getting a flu shot, you might as well get a pnuemonia vaccine while you are at it, because pneumonia can be just as dangerous as the flu.

"Usually they have IV antibiotics, sometimes they have IV steroids. Their respiratory status is monitored, their O2 status, their heart is monitored," said Tonny Dement, director of Clinical Services at the Piggott Community Hospital.

Signs of pneumonia include cough, fever, problems breathing and a pain in your chest.
