    Pine Bluff News:

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - In the early hours of Friday morning, officers in Pine Bluff were involved in an officer-involved shooting.

Lt. David Price said in a press release that at 5 a.m. officers were conducting surveillance inside the Tobacco Outlet at 3800 S. Camden Road. Price said the store had been burglarized several times recently.

Price said a graveyard patrol unit, doing regular business checks, found an unsecure door on the rear of the Tobacco Outlet, but was unaware the other officers were inside.

The release stated when the patrol officer entered the business to check things out, he came into contact with a dark figure, which was one of the surveillance officers, holding a weapon.

Price said a shot was fired and the surveillance officer was struck in the arm. The wound was not life threatening and the officer was treated and released from JRMC.

A detective and internal investigation is underway and the officer's names will not be released during the investigations.

The patrol officer that fired the shot is on paid administrative leave.
