LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Art Porter Music Education, Inc.) -- To honor a musical legacy that spans eight decades, Art Porter Music Education, Inc. (APME) will host its second annual "For the Love of Art," featuring an all-star lineup of musicians paying tribute to the late Art Porter, Sr., Friday, February 7 at 7 p.m., at Cajun's Wharf in Little Rock.
The tribute will feature talented musicians who played with or were inspired by Porter, a renowned pianist, entertainer, educator and television producer - in honor of what would have been his 80th birthday. Porter was born on February 8, 1934. The performers are donating their time and talent for this free concert, however, donations will be encouraged on site at the event, benefitting APME's scholarship program.

About Art Porter, Sr. and APME - Family members and supporters founded APME in memory of the Arkansas Jazz Statesman, who never officially worked as a touring musician, even though he was encouraged by many to do so. He instead chose to perform, teach and contribute to his church and his Arkansas community. He was known for his willingness to help other musicians by providing a platform to display their talent. As producer of "The Minor Key," a series of television programs on Arkansas' public education channel, AETN, Porter showcased up-and-coming talent in Arkansas and surrounding areas.
Additional information about the event can be found on APME's website, artporter.org and its Facebook page. You may also contact Sterling Ingram, Board President, at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on musician participation, contact Danny Fletcher at (501) 350-9780.
