Department of Correction spokeswoman Dina Tyler says guards apprehended 39-year-old Arthur Newberry on Monday afternoon, hours after he disappeared at the end of his shift at a milling company. Tyler says Newberry worked a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift and was missing when workers came to pick him up.
Tyler says it appears Newberry had "second thoughts" about what he did and that he was walking back to his job site when guards found him.
Newberry was serving a 14-year sentence out of Pulaski County for aggravated robbery, forgery and second-degree battery. He would have been eligible for parole in June 2011.
