LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has denied a rehearing request by a condemned inmate who fatally stabbed his estranged wife at a Fort Smith intersection while she was seeking protection from police.

The court on Thursday issued an order without comment denying Thomas Leo Springs' request for another appeal hearing.

Christina Springs was killed on Jan. 21, 2005, after her husband rammed a car in which she was a passenger. She was then stabbed 24 times as she sat in the vehicle. The attack occurred at a busy Fort Smith intersection in front of numerous witnesses.

The high court twice upheld the 40-year-old Springs' conviction. In 2006, the court rejected claims his lawyers should have introduced evidence about a 30-year-old brain injury. In March the court turned away a second challenge.
