LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers stopped a $42,000 theft.

Police said they arrested Robert Lee, 39, of Little Rock, after they caught him unloading hams from a refrigerated truck into a 1996 Ford SUV on an empty lot.

Upon initial questioning, officers said Lee told them the cold unit on the truck was failing and he and his accomplice were moving the meats to cold storage until the problem could be fixed, but Lee was unable to produce paperwork for a bill of loading.

After further investigation, police said they found out that the hams actually belonged to Smithfield Hams and the meats were to be delivered in Miami Nov. 15.

Lee was taken into custody, but his accomplice has not been charged.

The VIN numbers on the paperwork and the truck did not match, and police are still trying to find the rightful owner. The truck has since been towed to impound.

According to the incident report, the truck contained 549 boxes of Gwaltney hot dogs and 384 Gwaltney hams.

Lee is also the man accused of pushing a truck into the Shoeshine Parlor with an 18-wheeler cab.
