MORRISON, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois man accused of killing eight people from two states in 2008 has received another life sentence.
Sheley was sentenced Wednesday in the death of 93-year-old Russell Reed. Jurors convicted Sheley in November. A judge also sentenced Sheley to 30 years for home invasion and 15 years for residential burglary. Sheley declined to give a statement in court. The (Sterling) Daily Gazette reports that the judge also denied a request from Sheley's defense attorney for a new trial in Reed's killing.
Sheley already was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg. He faces a tentative June trial for the deaths of four people found in a Rock Falls apartment.
Sheley also is charged with killing an Arkansas couple in Missouri.
