LONOKE, Ark. (KTHV) - A man was arrested after assaulting deputies in Lonoke County.

According to Sheriff John Staley, two Lonoke County deputies were responding a disturbance report on Joyner Loop. When they attempted to make contact with 46-year-old Mark Lewis Daniels, he apparently refused to identify himself and became verbally abusive towards the deputies.

In a media release, Sheriff Staley said that Daniels physically resisted arrest by punching and pulling the hair of the deputies. Arkansas State Police troopers arrived to assist and Daniels was subdued, and then taken into custody.

Sheriff Staley said Daniels attempted to kick the windows out of the patrol vehicle and had to be shackled.

Daniels is facing charges that include five counts of second degree battery, resisting arrest, and third degree battery. Sheriff Staley said he also had outstanding warrants from Falkner County, Cleburne County, and Sherwood.
