LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Police are investigating a bank robbery in the Heights area of Little Rock that happened just before 2 p.m., and searching for the suspect in the surrounding area.
According to Sgt. Cassandra Davis, a young male entered Simmons Bank on N. Taylor St. and demanded money. He reportedly told the teller that he had a gun, but he did not display one.
Sgt. Davis said he left with an undisclosed amount of money, but has since dropped at least part of it near an apartment complex on Evergreen Rd. and Harrison St. It is in police posession now.
The suspect is said to be wearing a red t-shirt over a white t-shirt and a black hat. He is also described as standing between 5'8" and 5'10" tall, having shaggy hair and facial hair.
According to Sgt. Davis, no one was injured in the incident. It is unknown at this time how many people were in the bank at the time.
Some schools in the area were on lockdown for a period of time during the search, but since have lifted the precaution.
