Arby's worker details frightening hold up

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Victims are still recovering from a terrifying event early Saturday morning after being held hostage inside an Arby's for two hours.

Police say the suspects are both juveniles who fired shots at the store manager, and sexually assaulted one of the restaurant's other workers while they tried to rob the store's safe.

"[One of the suspects] said if you don't get that safe open you're all going to die," admitted one of the workers who was held hostage. "[Now] I'm scared of my own shadow."

The police reports says two boys, aged 16 and 17, forced three workers on the floor of Arby's at gunpoint as they attempted to break into the restaurant's automatically locking safe.

"He shot at the safe, and I had little piece of fragments come over and hit the right side of my face," the worker continued.

According to the police report after the suspects couldn't break into the safe, one of them took one of the workers and "forced her inside the bathroom at gunpoint," sexually assaulting her, while the other reassured the others that he'd shoot them if they moved from the floor.

"I was terrified to death, you know, because he kept saying that we were all going to die," the same worker continued.

The police report adds that after being taken inside, one of the suspects fired a bullet at the store's manager, narrowly missing him, before ordering everyone on the floor once again and then driving away in the manager's car.

After fleeing the scene, the suspects didn't make it very far. According to the police report they were found in a crashed car right along the 13000 block of Chenal Parkway after driving against the flow of traffic.

Police caught both suspects shortly after.

"You don't have to go out there and rob somebody and threaten their lives and destroy their lives mentally," the worker continued. "It's really sad."

Police say even though the suspects are minors, they want to charge them as adults.

One suspect already faces charges of aggravated robbery, felony theft of property, and use of force.

Police are still waiting to charge the second suspect in this case.

After the crash, he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is still is unconscious.
