Batesville police officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot

Man dead, officer hurt in Batesville shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — Arkansas State Police confirmed that they were called to help with an incident in Independence County.

A Batesville police officer, 31-year-old Michael Dickinson, was shot by 44-year-old Marvin Stair and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Arkansas State Police.

Dickinson responded to a domestic disturbance around 7:40 p.m. Friday night. When he arrived, Stair opened fire and shot Dickinson several times.

Dickinson returned fire and called for backup. When backup arrived, Stair pointed a rifle at the officers. The officers shot Stair. Stair died on the scene.

Dickinson was transported to the hospital.
