Jury convicts Arkansas man of murdering his wife

MARION, Ark. (KTHV) - On Saturday, Crittenden County jurors convicted an Arkansas man in the death of his wife.

According to Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District of Arkansas, John Thompson, Jr., 46, of Marion, has been convicted of First Degree Murder for the death of his wife Danielle Marie Thompson, 41.

The Marion Police Department said Danielle Thompson was murdered Aug. 27, 2011 at the couple's home on Lackey Road. Officers said John Thompson originally told them that burglars broke into his home and killed Danielle while he was at work.

Thompson has been sentenced to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
