Lamar boys basketball coach accused of driving bus under influence with team on board

OZARK, Ark. (KTHV) — A local basketball coach is accused of driving a bus while intoxicated with a boys’ basketball team on board.

Kevin Kyzer, 51, of Knoxville, Arkansas was arrested by Arkansas State Troopers on Friday, December 29, 2017. He is facing charges of driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a minor.

State troopers were notified shortly after 5 p.m. that Kyzer was suspected of being intoxicated while driving a Lamar School Bus with children onboard. The bus was located around 5:30 p.m. by troopers east of Altus where Kyzer was arrested.

School officials arrived and made arrangements for nine children to get home to Lamar.

Kyzer was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center but has been released.
