MALVERN, Ark. (KTHV) – The Malvern Police Department has announced that a man has been arrested in the shooting death of 33-year-old Jason Stovall.
According to a post on the police department's Facebook page, Cornell Jasper Huell, 24, of Malvern, was arrested Monday and charged with capital murder, criminal attempted capital murder, and aggravated residential burglary. He is currently being held in lieu of $250,000 cash or professional bond.
Lt. Doye Delacruz said Huell was already in jail on a felony warrant out of Texas for aggravated assault when he was named as a suspect. Huell is also being held in lieu of $800,000 bond in that case.
Huell apparently refused to comment on the motive for the shooting, and Delacruz did not know if Huell and Stovall were acquainted.
Delacruz added that the investigation is ongoing, but more arrests are anticipated.
Stovall, who worked with the Arkansas State Police, had apparently been shot to death in his home in Mid-February with children in the next room; his girlfriend was also injured in the shooting.
