SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas - Therapy dogs arrived in Sutherland Springs Wednesday to help bring some comfort to the grieving community.
The Lutheran Church Charities Canine Comfort Dog Ministry program brought the dogs in.
"They're confidential, good listeners, non-judgemental and people relax when they're petting a dog. When they relax, they start talking about what they're going through. A key part of the healing process is to be able to talk about what you're going through," Tim Hetzner with Lutheran Church Charities said.
They were also used in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook mass shooting, Las Vegas concert shooting and Dallas police shooting.
The dogs only go where they are invited and offer comfort for free.
