PINE BLUFF, Ark. -Humbleness and humility were the feelings of three Pine Bluff women who were recently honored for their dedication and service to the City of Pine Bluff and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). A luncheon, sponsored by Thompson Hospitality was held in the Black and Gold Room on UAPB's campus to honor Dr. Mary Benjamin, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Mrs. Pauline Thomas, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and Mrs. Debe Hollingsworth, Mayor of the City of Pine Bluff.
"We wanted to recognize some of our outstanding women in the Pine Bluff community and thought it was only fitting to celebrate influential women during the month of March, which is Women's History Month," said Edmond McClendon, Thompson Hospitality Food Service Director. "The luncheon, plaque and gift are just small tokens of appreciation for the years of service these ladies have given to UAPB and the community."
Each honouree was presented a leather carrying bag and plaque thanking them for their service to UAPB and the City of Pine Bluff.
"This celebration has just been a pleasure. Over the past 32 years I have had many people thank me and many appreciations, but this is the first time I have been recognized as an influential woman and I am humbled," Thomas said.
Hollingsworth echoed her attitude of humility. "This is an extremely humbling experience and very large to live up to," she said. "I am extremely grateful for this honour."
"I am very humble and deeply appreciative of the thoughtfulness of Thompson Hospitality and would like to compliment them for all that they do and the services it renders to UAPB," Benjamin said.
