Little Rock hosting Day of Action School Supply Drive for Hurricane Irma survivors

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Corps members and staff of City Year Little Rock and staff and volunteers of the Clinton Foundation are collecting school supplies in a combined effort to help replace and restock those items lost during Hurricane Irma.

Supplies will be sent to City Year AmeriCorps members in Miami to be distributed to affected students.

On Thursday, CYLR and the Clinton Foundation are inviting anyone to drop off school supplies at the Clinton Center. A drive-through drop-off will be located in Celebration Circle.

Then on Friday, CYLR and the Clinton Foundation will host a “Day of Action,” a service project, where corps members and volunteers will sort and ship the supplies to City Year Miami.

Items needed include:

  • Pencils
  • Notebooks
  • Pens
  • Backpacks
  • Paper
  • Books
  • Gift cards under $40 (food chains/Walmart etc.)

The push for this drive follows November of 2012, in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, individuals, companies, and organizations came forward and asked the Clinton Foundation what they could do that would make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers who were confronting the wreckage from Sandy.

In an effort to help the communities where Clinton Foundation staff, friends, and partners work and live and to channel the outpouring of support we received for meaningful action, Chelsea Clinton established the Clinton Foundation Day of Action program.
