LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - One group is raising money to gain signatures for a ballot initiative that could bring finance and lobbying reform to Arkansas.
The Better Ethics Now Committee say the Proposed Initiated Act would:
- Disallow direct corporate and union contributions to state campaigns (mimics current law for Federal races)
- Increase the waiting period for legislators to become lobbyists from one year to two years
- Prohibit gifts from lobbyists to legislators so that legislation would stand purely on its own merits
Tonight, Congressman Vic Snyder and reverend Betsy Singleton will host a fundraiser at their home to benefit the committee.
