JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) - Prosecutor Scott Ellington wins the District 1 democratic runoff against Representative Clark Hall.
"I just received a call from Representative Hall and he congratulated me on a good race and indicated that the numbers weren't in his favor and offered his help and assistance in future races as we go forward to face Rick Crawford," said Ellington.
Ellington expressed concern early Tuesday evening over low voter turnout.
"We're all disappointed that people did not come out to vote. Maybe they will a little later," said Amy Carter, a Jonesboro poll worker.
Ellington, known for his work as a prosecutor negotiating a plea deal for the West Memphis 3, said he does not feel the outcome had a negative impact on his campaign.
"He was able to settle the West Memphis 3 case. He didn't make everybody happy, but I think he did a good job on that..." said Charlott Jones, a District 1 voter.
Ellington said he looks forward to a positive run against Representative Rick Crawford, the republican incumbent.
"I invite Representative Crawford to join me in a fair campaign and keep it on the issues and not make it a bunch of personal issues, but make it about the issues that face the people in our part of the state, because that's who I represent..." said Ellington.
