UNDATED (CBS) - President Obama and Mitt Romney are criss-crossing the country looking for votes. And some controversial comments about rape and abortion have made it into the presidential campaign.

Thousands of people packed a Las Vegas park for a late night rally featuring President Obama and Katy Perry. Its part of a 40-hour, six state campaign blitz. The president says, "We are pulling an all-nighter. No sleep. And if you're not going to get any sleep, you might as well be in Vegas."

The president campaigns today in Florida and Virginia. He'll vote today in his hometown of Chicago and finish the night in Ohio. Romney says, "Ohio could well be the place that elects the next president of the United States."

Mitt Romney will focus entirely on Ohio today with rallies in Cincinnati and the Columbus area. Romney says he's gaining ground in the polls because he says the president has no plan for a second term. Romney says, "That's why with a president who is out of ideas and out of excuses, why on November 6, you're going to make sure to put him out of office."

In the middle of the campaign blitz, both candidates jumped into a controversy over comments an Indiana Senate candidate made about rape and pregnancy. Candidate Richard Mourdock said in a debate, "I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."

Richard Mourdock says he was talking about life not rape. On "The Tonight show with Jay Leno" Wednesday night, President Obama said he didn't really know what Mourdock was talking about. He said on the show, "Rape is rape. It is a crime."

Mitt Romney's campaign issued a statement saying Romney disagrees with what Mourdock said, but stands by his endorsement.

Mitt Romney's running mate will have an eight stop, 400 mile bus tour of Ohio this weekend.
