UNDATED (KTHV) -- A gun safety group is starting up an ad campaign this week in 13 states including Arkansas. The group is pushing Congress to pass universal background checks.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns, led by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is pouring $12 million into ads to push Congress to act. Bloomberg told NBC's Meet the Press that he's putting pressure on Democratic and Republican senators.

The National Rifle Association is running its own ad campaign against expanded background checks.
NRA CEO Wayne Lapierre also talked to NBC's Meet the Press and promised to continue the battle against regulations he says won't work.
When it comes to the Bloomberg gun ad running in Arkansas, U-S Senator Mark Pryor issued this statement Monday:
"I don't take gun advice from the Mayor of New York City. I listen to Arkansans."
