BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - The streets of Benton filled up with friends, family, and strangers welcoming 12-year-old Kali Hardig home on Thursday.
The 12-year-old had been treated at Arkansas Children's Hospital since July for a usually-fatal infection called 'parasitic meningitis.' She contracted the infection after swimming at an area park, which has since been closed. Kali became the third survivor in the world of the infection.
Kali plans to return to school on a part-time basis Monday, but stopped at Benton Middle School Thursday to visit friends and teachers.
