10 suspects involved in vandalism of Benton panther statue, 1 charged

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - An investigation has been found that 10 individuals were involved in vandalizing the panther statue outside Benton High School. Of the 10, only one has been charged as an adult for the incident.

On August 30, officers responded to Benton High School on calls that the panther statue had been vandalized. Benton Police Department began an investigation into the crime with assistance from the Bryant Police Department.

During the investigation, police identified 10 suspects for the crime. On September 13, 18-year-old Garrett Misenheimer was arrested on charges of criminal mischief. The other nine are awaiting their charges from the Saline County Juvenile Authorities.

The damage caused to the statue was around $4,000.
