10-year-old girl drowns in Johnson Co. during family gathering

Child drowns in Johnson County Sunday afternoon

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- On Sunday, a 10-year-old girl died after drowning in the Mulberry River near the Oark Bridge area during a family gathering.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area around 5:21 p.m. Once emergency personnel arrived, they discovered that a 10-year-old girl had drowned.

A total of three other children were injured during the drowning incident. Two of them were airlifted to the Arkansas Children's Hospital while another was transported to the Johnson Regional Medical Center. While the two transferred to Little Rock have been released, the other juvenile is still hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The mother of the drowning victim, Paw Moo, was also treated for injuries.
