AUSTIN, Ark. (KTHV) - An Austin boy was rewarded on Sunday for helping his grandmother call 911 after she had trouble getting up.
10-year-old Nic Hill called 911 after his grandmother had fallen and couldn't get up Saturday night. After the call, ambulance arrived and transported his grandmother to be treated. She was later released for bruises and abrasions but Hill's quick thinking prevented any more harm from happening.
After he had called 911 he also contacted his mother to let her know what happened to his grandmother. Nic calmed down his two younger siblings while emergency personnel was on their way.
The Austin Police Department presented him with a certificate of recognition. Nic was also given a gift certificate from Johnson's Tasty Freeze in Cabot. Chief Jim Kulesa was told by the young boy that he was going to share his gift certificate with his younger brother and sister.
