4 couples honored on National Parents Day

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Four families were honored at the state capitol Saturday night.

Dr. James and Myra Burgess, of Greenwood; Stephen and Ann Jackson, of Jacksonville; and Jeremy and Pamela Rowland, of Cherokee Village, were honored with Parent of the Year Awards. In addition, Denny and Tiffany Moore were honored with the Dakota Hawkins Outstanding Courage Award.

All of the couples shared stories of how their families have overcome struggles together and how they have thrived.

"They could have regressed and drawn into themselves, but they continue to give to their community through their jobs and their service," said Bruce Biggin with the state's Parent's Day Council.

After the Moores lost their first daughter, the city of Pocahontas rallied around them. Denny Moore is a firefighter, and Tiffany Moore works at Five Rivers Medical Center.
