57-year-old dies on bike trail

BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) – A 57-year-old man has died on a Baxter County bike trail.

County sheriff John Montgomery said a group of three friends was riding a trail at Pigeon Creek around 9:30 a.m. He said other members of the group told investigators that Robert Dobstaff, of Lakeview, had fallen behind and then disappeared; they back-tacked and found him down on the trail, not breathing.

Montgomery went on to say that the group members performed CPR on Dobstaff until emergency crews arrived. Dobstaff was later pronounced dead by the Baxter County Coroner.

Though no foul play is suspected, Dobstaff's body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Baxter County Sherriff's Office listed the following agencies as assistants: Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, US Army Corp of Engineers, Air E Vac, and Lakeview Police Department.
