LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - One of the tastiest traditions in Arkansas returned to the SoMa district in Little Rock for the 5th celebration of a southern food staple; cornbread.
The 5th annual Arkansas Cornbread Festival had music, artisan crafts, and most importantly local restaurants putting their own spin on cornbread. The event also has an amateur competition to give the public a chance to show off their culinary skills.
Michele Beasley with the Dam Good Cornbread team said there's a definite winning formula to winning the cornbread competition.
"It can't be too dry. It needs to be good with chili which is our side dish that we've made today and it just needs to be really memorable," she said.
About a dozen teams submitted cornbread to the competition this year. Restaurants like Raduno, Andina's Cafe, and Boulevard Bread.
Sweet Soul won first place in the professional category while Loblolly Creamery got second place. We will update the story with more winners as they are announced.
