ADC: Last confirmed sighting of murderer at time of escape

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- As the search continues for an inmate who escaped the Arkansas Department of Corrections Pine Bluff Unit on Saturday, Shea Wilson with the Arkansas Department of Corrections says she heard that someone in Greenville, Mississippi believes he spotted Timothy Buffington.

Wilson told THV11 that a young boy reported spotting Buffington Thursday in a maroon car on a rural road, so ADC provided a mugshot and other information to the Greenville Police Department. At this time, she said Greenville police have not come in contact with the man the boy reported seeing.

According to Wilson, ADC has no reason to believe Buffington is in Mississippi.

Wilson told THV11 that despite a few reports being made throughout the week, the last confirmed sighting of Buffington was at the time of his escape.

Buffington was said to have been working at a home on prison grounds, but outside the secure parameters, at the time of his escape. He reportedly attempted to kidnap a woman who lived on the grounds, but she was able to get away. Authorities believe he is armed.

Buffington was admitted to ADC in 1998 after being convicted in the murder of his ex-wife.
