AR State Police: McCrory officer killed in accident on Hwy 17

MCCRORY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Thursday morning, one officer with the McCrory police department was killed in a automotive crash on Highway 17.  

Officer Robert Aaron Barker, 26, of McCrory, a four-year veteran of the McCrory Police Department, died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash today.

At approximately 5 AM Barker was responding to a call to assist a Woodruff County sheriff’s deputy when his patrol car collided with a deer.  Barker was traveling north along Arkansas Highway 17, south of the Patterson community, when his patrol car struck a deer. 

Barker was pronounced dead at a Searcy hospital.
