STRONG, Ark. (KTHV) - The Strong-Huttig School District becomes the first in Arkansas to receive an enrollment waiver.
The district in Union County has a total of 311 students. State law requires a school district to have a minimum of 350 students, but the waiver allows Strong-Huttig to operate under that amount.
The Arkansas Board of Education voted unanimously on the waiver on Thursday. The district met the necessary legal requirements which include not being in academic, financial or facility distress.
