Arkansas Children's Hospital holds reunions for premature babies that grow, leave the NICU

Babies make it back for NICU reunion at Arkansas Children's Hospital

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The maternity wards at Little Rock's major hospitals work every day to help premature babies arrive safely.

Their care can take many weeks and months. The NICU at Arkansas Children's Hospital loves to hold reunions for the babies that grow up and out of their care.

Saturday, they held one of those parties. The party brought back several of the success stories for some fun and face-painting and for at least one mom, tears of joy.

“It's just awesome to see everybody and reconnect with everybody after all their hard work and everything that the NICU has done. They're just very dear and close to our hearts. Oh I'm going to cry,” said Jessica Villines.

Jessica has had two babies that required care at the NICU. Logan came into the world at 25 weeks, weighing just 11 ounces. He is 13 now. And little Laken also arrived at the 25-week mark, weighing just 5 ounces. She is doing great now.
