Backpack containing prosthetic arm missing in Buffalo River

WOOLUM, Ark. (AP) - Visitors to the Buffalo National River in Arkansas are being asked to look out for a lost backpack that contains a hiker's prosthetic arm.

Buffalo National River spokesman Caven Clark says the hiker lost the backpack while trying to cross the river March 30 near Woolum, about 90 miles north of Little Rock. Clark tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/2oqYSao) that the river was high in late March because of heavy rains, making it difficult and dangerous to wade across it.

The park's superintendent, Kevin Cheri, says the backpack is likely stuck on tree limbs or at the bottom of the river, though there's also a chance it traveled 25 miles down the Buffalo to the White River.

Anyone who spots the backpack is asked to contact park officials.
