Name released in fatal Batesville accident

BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say an Arkansas Highway Department employee died after construction equipment rolled over him.

Independence County Chief Deputy Jeremy Qualls tells KAIT-TV (http://bit.ly/1ATGesp) the man died Tuesday afternoon in Batesville.

Police said John Garner, 52, of Pleasant Plains was helping with road construction when a piece of equipment flipped and rolled on top of him. Construction crews were laying asphalt when the accident occurred.

He was pronounced dead at White River Medical Center.
