Bethel Heights police shoot, wound man after officer struck

BETHEL HEIGHTS, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say Bethel Heights police shot and wounded a man after the man struck an officer with his vehicle.
State police say an officer was trying to arrest the man about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man drove into the officer. The officer who was struck and another officer opened fire and shot the suspect.
The man was taken to a hospital with what police say appears to be non-life threatening wounds.
The officer was treated and released at a hospital.
No names have been released.
State police are investigating the shooting and say the report will be given to the prosecuting attorney to determine whether the shooting was justified.
