NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Governor Mike Beebe helped open a brewery in North Little Rock on Monday. Diamond Beer Brewing had its grand opening this afternoon.
Even more businesses will be announcing openings in North Little Rock in the coming weeks.
It's these new and unique businesses that are adding to the flare of the growing Argenta District.
Russ Melton is the president of the company, and he said they've been wanting to expand for the past four years.
"We do just under 50,000 cases so we plan on going very quickly to the rate of 100,000 cases. It really should add to both sides of the river and to the entire Central Arkansas community," said Melton
"For awhile many people thought the Arkansas River acted as a barrier between the two cities, but now they're coming together to creatively enhance both of their districts."
Warwick Sabin works to attract innovative businesses to the area.
He says there's been steady growth in North Little Rock and in the Argenta District over the past 10-12 years now.
"It dove tails with the development of Main Street in Downtown Little Rock right across the river with the idea that Main Street from Roosevelt Road in the south all the way to McCain in the North can really become a high tech and creative corridor for Central Arkansas," said Sabin.
"It's that combination of high tech, small business, a lot of growing businesses and a lot of cultural amenities," said Sabin.
Besides expanding production, Diamond Bear Brewing Company will also be adding a restaurant.
