CALS donates library fines to LA. flood relief

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Central Arkansas Library System  will donate any fines collected for overdue books from September 5 through September 11 to assist residents who were affected by the recent flooding in Louisiana.

CALS's donation will be directed to the Louisiana Association of United Ways.

The Louisiana United Way Flood Fund was created to help communities recover from historical flooding in Louisiana.  Contributions will help regional United Ways serve the immediate needs of flood victims as well as support long term recovery throughout affected regions.

"We wanted to help our neighbors in Louisiana who have suffered through this terrible flood.   Contributing to the Louisiana Association of United Ways is a good way for CALS and our patrons to do something meaningful and show these flood victims that we care." said Nate Coulter, CALS Executive Director.

To participate, patrons may pay fines at any CALS branch or online.
